Narrative from Kerry Howard, race director:

On a beautiful blue sky day, over 200 people, many with kids and dogs, turned out for the 3rd Annual Run Fur Fun event for the Gastineau Humane Society (GHS).  Thanks to our many sponsors and participants, we raised over $3000.00 to help care for animals at the shelter.

Top 5K male finisher was Adam Moser with a time of 21 minutes and 42 seconds.  Top 5K female finisher was the multi-talented Reece Bleakley who completed the course in a time of 24 minutes and 50 seconds.   The winners were awarded with hat embroidered with the GHS logo.

After the event, participants enjoyed free beer samples provided by the Alaskan Brewing Company and a free prize drawing with great prizes donated by Wings Airways, the Foggy Mountain Shop, and Nugget Alaskan Outfitter.  We also appreciate the SERR for the use of their equipment and support of this event.  See you there next year!
