Cathy Bressette founded Beat the Odds in 1992. Glacier Valley Rotary stepped in and then graciously passed it to Cancer Connection to be their signature fundraiser. Perseverance Trailhead August 10th 2024 (Saturday) 7:00AM | Online registration is available through August 9, 2024, at 9:00 p.m. After that you can register in person on race day, until 30 minutes before the race starts. But it is a tremendous help to volunteers if you pre-register online. Cost is $35 for the 50K and 25K, and $15 for the 10K. The 50K race starts at 7:00 a.m., the 25K and 10K start at 9:00 a.m. BRIEF DESCRIPTION All three races start and finish at the end of Basin Road near the Perseverance Trail. The courses are the same as 2023. Each race is run mostly on stunningly beautiful trails with a significant amount of climbing (more than 5,000 feet elevation gain for the 50K). The 25K course is on Basin Road, Perseverance Trail, Red Mill Trail, the Glory Hole overlook, Granite Creek Trail, and Mt. Roberts Trail. The 50K runners will do an out and back on the Flume, Glacier Avenue, and Salmon Creek Trail first, then the 25K course. The 10K is out and back on Basin Road, Perseverance Trail, Red Mill Trail, and the Glory Hole overlook. Because we have volunteers out on the trails in sometimes marginal weather, we cannot accommodate an early start and must impose a time limit of 7.5 hours for the 50K. If you cannot finish the 50K in 7.5 hours, please sign up for the 25K. It is still a beautiful and challenging course. This is a Juneau Trail and Road Runners Club event. Savikko Park July 27th 2024 (Saturday) 7:00AM | This USATF-certified, out and back marathon and half marathon is run at sea level on the lightly traveled, two-lane Douglas Highway in Juneau, Alaska. The scenic course offers views of mountains, glaciers, forests, and the ocean. The start/finish is near the picnic shelter at Sandy Beach, in Douglas, which is about 4 miles away from cruise ship docks in Downtown Juneau.
