The Back to School Youth Fun Run, a mile or a half-mile from the end of Basin Road at 1 p.m., sponsored by Juneau Parks and Recreation. Three dollars to enter, with registration from noon. Part of the Empire Cup Runners Series. The race is recorded here on Saturday 7 August. The Empire Cup standings printed on 12 July list it among the upcoming races as 14 August, and that is the date this site carried; but the Empire of Friday 6 August, previewing the following day's racing, says it begins at 1 p.m. that Saturday and "was originally scheduled for Aug. 14". The two sources disagree because the race moved, and the later one is the one reporting it. It therefore ran on the same day as the second Frank Maier Memorial Marathon. No results were published. |
