The Capital City Run of Saturday 11 August 1990, on Mendenhall Spur Road: a quarter marathon of 6.55 miles and a half marathon of 13.1 miles, 90 finishers between them. Rick Thibodeau won the half in 1:13:29, two seconds ahead of his brother Guy. Jim Douglas and Al Graves tied for first in the men's 40-49 division in 1:17:55, and Glenn Frick led the 50-59 in 1:19:59. Dawn Rider was the only woman recorded in the 20-29 division, in 1:35:59, and Sue Scott led the 30-39 in 1:48:10 from Leslie Weaver five seconds back. Henry Marsh won the quarter marathon in 35:40, from Arturo Rodriguez in 37:36 and Frank Young in 37:14 - Young the faster of the two, but in a younger division. Jami Ries led the women in 46:55. NOTES ON THE LIST. The Empire prints "Jim Shine, Jr." in the quarter's Males 13-and-under and "Jim Shine Sr." in its Men 30-39. Two other 1990 lists print the pair as two plain "Jim Shine" entries, and this is the source that separates them. Maria Dudzak's time is printed with a final digit the scan does not carry and is stored at 59:30, with a note giving the range. Ruth Holland's reads as 82:16; she leads her division and the second place is 59:30, so it is recorded as 52:16. In the quarter's men's 30-39 division, sixth place is printed at 47:44 ahead of a seventh at 46:48, and both are stored as printed with a note. This event is filed under the CBJ Juneau Marathon series. It runs the same two distances that race carried alongside its full marathon from 1983, and on the same ground, but the name is new in 1990 and the filing is a judgement rather than a documented continuation. |
